Satan's Lost Authority

Revelation 12 announces that the accuser of the brethren has been thrown down. The word accuser is doing precise work.
In the Old Testament the satan figure operates as a prosecutor - a legal office in God's court, bringing charges. Revelation says that office is finished. He no longer holds standing by which to condemn any member of the kingdom.
Notice carefully what that does and does not mean. It is the loss of a legal position, not the loss of all activity. The same passage says he goes on deceiving. What he cannot do any longer is prosecute.
