Inheriting Authority with the Holy Ones

Daniel 7 does not end with the son of man alone. The kingdom is also given to the holy ones - and in Daniel that term covers both divine and human members of God's household.
Paul picks up the same word. When he prays that the Ephesians would grasp their inheritance among the holy ones, he uses the Greek term the Septuagint uses for Daniel's holy ones. Believers are not spectators at someone else's coronation. They inherit the right to rule.
That is the point of the whole divine council storyline. The beings who presently hold the nations are not permanent office-holders. They are being replaced.
