Gentiles as Fellow Heirs and Family Members

Paul calls it a mystery: that Gentiles are fellow heirs, fellow members of the body, fellow sharers in the promise.
To feel the weight of that you need Babel behind it. The nations were disinherited and allotted to other gods. Gentile meant, precisely, someone outside the family God had begun with Abraham.
So the astonishing thing is not that Gentiles are allowed to attend. It is that they become joint heirs of the true God - not guests, family. And the mechanism was there from the start: through Abraham all the families of the earth would be blessed.
