Daniel describes a king who exalts himself above every god and speaks astonishing things against the God of gods. Ezekiel describes a great destroyer coming from the uttermost parts of the north.
The sources put them together: it is the king of the north being described in these verses, and Gog is described in the same terms - the great destroyer from the north.
Two qualifications keep this honest. The immediate historical referent of Daniel 11 is Antiochus IV, which all end-times systems agree on as at least the initial fulfilment. And the north in these texts is theological geography - Baal's mountain, the direction hostile supernatural power comes from - not a bearing on a map.
