Forbidden Knowledge: Source of Corruption, Not Enlightenment

The Watchers did not bring civilisation. That is the modern retelling, and it is the opposite of what the text says.
1 Enoch describes them teaching sorcery and charms and the cutting of roots and plants. The vocabulary is the language the Old Testament uses for enchanters and magicians - condemned practice, not lost science.
And the results follow immediately. The next verses describe the giants who began to kill men and to devour them. The teaching produced violence, not progress.
The framing matters. This is not wisdom but corruption. Yahweh is the source of true wisdom; the Watcher teachers were rebels who brought death.
