Paradoxical Splendor of God's Throne Room

Enoch is taken into God's house, and the description refuses to settle.
The building is hot as fire and cold as ice. There are no delights of life in it. Fear covers him and trembling takes hold of him. Then a second house, greater than the first, with a lofty throne whose appearance was as crystal, and streams of flaming fire running out from underneath it - and the Great Glory sat thereon.
Fire and ice at once. The sources name the paradox rather than smoothing it: the seer is trembling, unable to look, unable to describe what he is seeing.

The throne room is not a comfortable place in this literature. Everyone who reaches it is undone by it.
