No Peace for the Rebellious Watchers

Enoch is sent to the imprisoned Watchers with an answer to their appeal, and the answer is no.
To Azazel: you shall have no peace - a severe sentence has gone forth against thee to put thee in bonds. No toleration, no request granted. To the rest: you shall have no peace nor forgiveness of sin, and though you make supplication for ever, you will not obtain mercy.
That is the point of the errand. The rebels do petition. The petition is refused.
Worth noting the name: this is the only occurrence of Azazel in that section of 1 Enoch, and he functions there as a satan figure.

It is a hard passage, and the New Testament writers knew it. It is part of why they wrote about the angels who sinned the way they did.
