Divine-Human Union: Reinterpreting Genesis 6:1-4

Someone always raises Matthew 22. Jesus says that in the resurrection people neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. Does that not rule out Genesis 6?
Look at the qualifier. Jesus says angels in heaven. The claim in Genesis 6 is not about angels who stayed in heaven - it concerns beings who abandoned their heavenly station. The offenders are precisely the ones who left.
Two things worth attributing honestly. That counter-argument is credited in the sources to Newman, and its fullest form comes from Van Dorn's companion volume rather than from Heiser's own prose.
And one distinction that often gets lost: the Genesis 6 offenders and the sons of God allotted the nations in Deuteronomy 32 are not the same group. The Genesis 6 offenders are described as imprisoned.
