Omission of Dan: A Prophetic Sign for the Antichrist

Dan is missing from the list of tribes sealed in Revelation 7, and the passage says the sealed come from every tribe of the sons of Israel. The omission is deliberate.
The background is a chain of episodes. In Judges 18 the tribe abandons its allotted inheritance in the south, migrates north, and takes along a priest who keeps household gods and an idol - the first idolatry in the land. They capture Laish, rename it Dan, and the city becomes a cult centre. Later, Jeroboam puts one of his golden calves there.
The patristic tradition that the antichrist would come from Dan grew out of that history. It is an early church reading, not a statement of Scripture, and worth naming as such.
