Our Bodies: The New Tabernacle

The apostle Paul, in 2 Corinthians 5:1-2, speaks of our earthly bodies in terms of a temporary dwelling, an "earthly house" or "tent," which stands in contrast to an eternal "building from God." The connection means that the same divine presence that once sanctified a designated physical space in ancient Israel now resides within each person who follows Christ.
Therefore, you, as a believer, become a living, moving sanctuary. Just as the tabernacle was the focal point of God's presence for Israel, your body is now a vessel for the divine presence in the world. This understanding challenges you to recognize the immense spiritual significance of your own being, knowing that wherever you go, and wherever you gather with other believers, you carry and manifest God's sacred presence, transforming your surroundings and bringing light into the world.
