Divine Confinement: A Shared Eschatological Vision

1 Enoch describes seven stars bound together in a fiery place and held there until judgment - bound, in its own words, until the completion of ten myriads of years. The stars are the fallen Watchers.
That vocabulary - abyss, fire, prison, bound, eternal - is the cluster that surfaces in the New Testament when it speaks of the angels who sinned, and again when Revelation describes the binding of the dragon.
This is not a claim that the New Testament treats 1 Enoch as Scripture. It is a claim about shared vocabulary in a shared thought-world. The writers and their first readers knew these images.
