Bad Counsel Destroys

God tells Ezekiel to prophesy against these men and gives the reason plainly: they devise iniquity and give wicked counsel in this city.
The failure is not only what they said. It is what they did not do. They were either not helping people prepare for an invasion that was coming, or they were in denial about it. There was no effort on the part of the leadership even to lead the people down a path of repentance.
That is the charge. Not incompetence - abdication.
