Angelic Sin in Peter and Jude

Set Jude 6 and 2 Peter 2:4 side by side and the overlap is hard to miss. Both use forms of the verb tereo, to keep. Both have chains. Both have deepest darkness. Both end at the same place - kept until the judgment.
Scholars studying the two passages treat 2 Peter as paraphrastic at exactly these points. Whatever the direction of dependence, the more telling fact is what neither writer does. Neither explains the event. Neither says which angels, or when, or what they did. They both assume you know.
Two New Testament letters referring to the same episode, and neither one introduces it.
