Acts Theology 27: Beyond Pentecost

When persecution scattered believers from Jerusalem, the gospel didn't stall - it spread, reaching Antioch and, for the first time, large numbers of Gentiles (Acts 11:19-26). That expansion fulfills a much older pattern. Genesis 10 lists the nations descending from Noah's sons - the "Table of Nations" - establishing that every people group on earth has a place in God's accounting from the very beginning. Centuries later, Isaiah 49:6 promises that God's servant would be "a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth" - not just Israel's restoration, but a mission to everyone on that original table. Acts is the record of that promise moving from prophecy to reality, one city at a time.
This matters because the spread of the gospel to "all nations" was never a New Testament improvisation - it's the fulfillment of a plan traced all the way back to Genesis.
