Acts Theology 12: Pentecost and Babel

"The LORD confused the language of all the earth. And from there the LORD dispersed them over the face of all the earth" (Genesis 11:7-9). Pentecost reverses the scattering of nations that occurred at Babel, empowering intelligible witness across languages so that scattered peoples can be reclaimed as God’s inheritance through Christ.
At Babel, God scattered humanity and allocated the nations to subordinate spiritual beings. This is seen in Deuteronomy 32:8-9, which states, "When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance... the LORD's portion is his people, Jacob his allotted heritage." This sets the stage for Pentecost as the beginning of God reclaiming His global inheritance.
The new covenant, initiated in Acts 2, signifies that the Spirit comes to empower all who believe to go into the nations and reclaim them, making all believers the people of God and elect. This new covenant creates a "circumcision neutral" body, not tied to physical descent from Abraham.
